OK I admit it is not abroad but looks like our break for this year. All I can say is do not book into a Haven site.

We are at least better off than the poor family a couple of pitches up who in less than 10 minutes lost their van in a fire. A very scary experiance will post a pic and more details when we get back but belive me it was very scary

Thats terrible
I feel for them as we lost our new van before we even got it when the dealers had a big fire in the PDI yard

We were lucky they had another identical van to replace ours but some folk lost out for months

Allen the number of caravanners who HATE Haven is huge and growing all the time

Yes it did a bit. We checked everything before we went out or to bed.

What happened????????

Don't know what started it but it all happend so quick.

Dawns dad had come on the sunday to stop for a night. About 5 pm as we were getting ready to go eat I spotted some smoke I said to Peter 'I would not want to eat anything cooked on that BBQ'
As I stepped across to have a look I realised that it was a van on fire. It was a large twin axel.
We ran to see if we could help and as I approached the front of the van a chap who I later found out was the owner ran to the front locker and ripped out the gas bottle and slung it down the site.
I was actually running to move the van they used for towing out the way before it caught fire. As I got to the van some one oppend the door of the van and flames and smoke shot out because of this I could not get to the drivers door. I ran to the passenger side to try the door and was lucky it was unlocked. I climbed in with the intention of at least letting the handbrake off and rolling down the hill (by the way one thing this sight claims is level pitches, I do not call 20 deg level) as I was half way across some one shoved the keys in my hand so I was able to move it away.
Minutes later there was nothing left. As the fire brigade had to come from Bride it took them 15 minutes but the whole thing was over in 10 so they just damped it down.

It appears he had only had it three Weeks.

We felt sorry sorry for them start of their holliday and that happens.
